Govt. Polytechnic College (Mohali) was established by the Punjab Govt in the year 1996.

Establishment Profile:

To meet the growing demand for competent technocrats from the global industrial sector, the Government Polytechnic College, Khunimajra (Mohali) was established by the Punjab government in 1996 as a co-education institute. Initially, two diploma courses were started in the same year in the two important components of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering with a contribution of 40 students in each trade. Later, not only did two new courses in communication electronics and engineering and computer engineering begin in college in July 2004, but the contribution of students was also increased from forty to sixty in each class. A new course, medical Lab Technology, has been proposed to be launched from the 2010 session. The college, with its campus spread over an area of about 17 acres, is located about 2 km from the Kharar bus stand on the Kharar-Banur Road. Located in the vicinity of Mohali, the college has become recognized as a leading co-educational institution of technical education. In addition to meeting the requirements of the Mohali-Chandigarh-Panchkula tri-city, students from all over Punjab and neighbouring states are trying to apply for admission to this college.

Access to the various engineering streams/technologies for the three year Diploma programme is conducted through a central consultancy conducted by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education-Industrial Training, Chandigarh.

Mechanical Engineering:

Computer Engineering:

In today's world is the world of the computer. Computerization is changing the face of the Earth at a speed which mankind has not seen since the time immemorial. Our homes, industrial, commercial and service sectors, research & development, communication, in every field of computer system in making cleaner, faster, transparent and reliable. Electrical Engineering:

Having electrical energy plays an important role in the industrialization and the process of development of a country. There is an ongoing expansion of the electricity system in our country to exercise the power for the fastest growing industrial, commercial and domestic sectors. This leads to opening of new opportunities for technocrats in the field of Electrical Engineering. Our institute, offers a Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1996, will continue serving the nation of this demand in the meetings. Electronic & Communication Engineering:

The Electronics and Communications Department was established in the year 2004 to cater to the needs of various industries of communications looking for experienced engineers to take into account the growing demand of this field in the world. The purpose of the Department is to produce electronics and communication engineer, who combine academic excellence with practical expertise. To achieve this goal, set state laboratories-art leading up to the high standards set up by the competition syllabus and watch over the tendency of students to research and development, among by giving them the necessary and sufficient backing the practical knowledge they need. Modern Office Practice:

Medical Technology, which is a proper subset of health technology, covers a wide range of healthcare products and are used to diagnose, monitor or treat the disease or illness that affects the man.

Such technology (application of medical science) is intended to improve the quality of health care given by the previous analysis, less invasive treatment options and reducing hospital stays and rehabilitation of times. Workshop:

To make students familiar with the different traditions of manufacturing processes and institute has well equipped workshop. As the saying goes,  "learning-by-doing is the best way of learning and leaves a lasting impression in the minds of young students".

College students will get the chance to work in the machine shop, woodworking shop, sheet metal shop, welding shop and smithy shop to get hands-on training. Activities

Sports and co-planning activities:

"Physical well-being defines the basis of mental stamina " is a dictum that is true every time. Sports and games have made a dominant feature of the institution that inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and team-working with the students. The Institute ensures that the Athletic Meet, usually held in the month of March, is an annual and regular feature of the college. Students of all classes and courses are eagerly involved in various athletic events during their two-day Athletic Meet. Inter Polytechnic games are a much anticipated affair, as the athletes of the Institute get the opportunity to display excellent ground skills and team-spirit games such as volleyball, Foot-Ball, basketball, Cricket, Kabaddi, table tennis and badminton.

Co-design activities are an integral part of learners ' learning and development, as they complement the formal curriculum. Bearing in mind the importance of personality development and causing different skills among students, a number of activities such as seminars, discussion of competition, poster-Making competition, quiz, etc. are organized in college from time to time. The Cultural Spunk Award Distribution function will be held annually in order to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents, as well as artistic skills, as well as honor the performers in the field of sport, cultural Activities and trainers.

Community Polytechnic System:

A centrally-supported community polytechnic system, under the aegis of the Human Resources and Development Ministry, started the institute 1999 years in the welfare and uplifting of rural youth, women, school dropout, SC/STs and other society's disadvantaged Disadvantaged sections of the The basic objective of this system is to equip weaker parts to acquire gainful employment/Self-employment, thereby improving their lifestyle. EDUSAT:

Edusat is the first Indian lunar build exclusively to serve the educational sector. It primarily seeks to meet the demand for an interactive satellite distance learning system. Edusat provides an excellent opportunity to provide highly skilled and experienced technical faculty members to share their knowledge, experiences, views and ideas with audiences sitting in remote and remote areas as well. Because Edusat is a two-way communication process, it is a highly interactive program. It provides a platform for students to participate actively, as they have allowed them to use the queries at the end of a performance to immediately clarify the doubts.

The efforts to create a SIT (satellite interactive terminal) in the institution are made on a war basis in order to start the live broadcast of the lectures as soon as possible. Student/Staff Enrichment programmes:

In this rapidly evolving and constantly evolving global scenario, mere acquisition of a diploma/Diploma does not provide a person who has solid foundations in this highly competitive corporate world. Normal updation of knowledge, acquisition of innovative and corporate skills has become a necessary component for a promising and successful career in varied fields. With this fact in mind, the Institute is always striving to regularly organise seminars, workshops and short-term courses to make students and the institute's carat a constant technical education. In addition to focusing on the technical aspects, seminars/workshops on personality development, personal care, confidence building and motivation will be conducted at frequent intervals in the institution to provide confidence and The interviews with the students are more sad and courageous.
